You open and close the trade the same day — never holding a position overnight. It demands watching price live during the session and reacting fast, both to enter and to exit.
You hold the position for several days to a few weeks, aiming to capture a full price "swing" — from a low to a high, or the other way around. No need to watch the screen all day.
Trades lasting seconds to minutes, many per day, chasing small but repeated gains. It demands very fast execution and low trading costs, since the margin per trade is razor-thin.
The longest horizon: weeks, months, even years. It leans on the underlying trend and fundamentals, not day-to-day noise — the strategy with the fewest trades and the most patience.
You trade with the dominant trend, not against it — buying while price stays above its moving average, selling once it loses that reference. "The trend is your friend" is the core idea.
You enter when price forcefully breaks a support or resistance it had been respecting — the break is usually accompanied by a jump in volume, a sign of real interest behind the move.
Bets that, after an extreme move, price tends to return to its average — typically combined with RSI in overbought or oversold territory as the entry signal.
You follow stocks already showing strong, recent momentum — high relative volume, a news catalyst, an earnings beat — betting that momentum continues a bit further before fading.
When price has no clear trend and bounces between a defined floor and ceiling, you buy near the floor (support) and sell near the ceiling (resistance), again and again, until the range breaks.
